SO KALOREFUL

Biography
Kelsi Kalore was born and raised in Houston, Texas with a lifelong dedication to the arts. Her edgy, eccentric, yet corky style reflects her inner world which often brings out suppressed intense emotions most common to minority communities, such as the appeal of feminine liberation or rage of the Black experience in America. Her story began raised by a southern Creole family of independent women and starting out in a Catholic school in Kashmere Gardens where she has praise danced. Spending most of her childhood with her crafty grandmother and creative older sister influenced her development as a self-taught artist, as her inspirations came from her own stories she made up of people and things on pop-culture TV and significant female cartoon characters. At thirteen years old, Kelsi discovered her gifted talent in painting. Furthermore, in her adulthood, she joined Architecture school where she gained skills in graphic designing, which became a source for her mixed-media work. Years after graduating, she decided to become a full-time artist rather than an Architect, healing through her spiritual journey while expanding her skills, knowledge, and experimenting with different materials to implement textures into her artwork by using glitter and jewelry with hardware fasteners that she discovered from her dad’s old toolbox to add her edgy style. Her artwork has conceived great attraction in numerous art shows and social media. The support from others had led her to other skills through art such as working in films as a Storyboarding Artist, which she has been for the Moet & Chandon with Don C commercial, collaborating with clothing brands such as Godson, and painting up Texas cities with murals. Kelsi's passion for sharing her art in a world where Pop culture thrives will inspire a generation of young collectors and other aspiring Pop-art artists.
